Overview

What Is Epithalon?

Get Started

Epithalon is a peptide. A peptide is a short chain of amino acids. Epithalon has only 4 of them. It was made in a lab in Russia to copy part of an extract from the pineal gland, a small gland in the brain.

Most of what is known about Epithalon comes from studies in cells and animals, much of it from one research group. Human research is small and early. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and Epithalon is not FDA-approved for any use.

Protocol MD's Epithalon is made for you by a US-licensed 503A compounding pharmacy. It is a shot you give yourself under the skin. You buy one 20-day course. You can buy another course 6 months after your last dose. It ships cold, so put it in the fridge when it arrives.

How does an Epithalon course work?

You buy one 20-day course at a time. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It ships cold. You can buy another course 6 months after your last dose.

How much does Epithalon cost?

Protocol MD is cash-pay, with no membership fee. One 20-day course is $299. We place a hold at checkout and only charge it if a physician approves. If not, the hold is released.

Is Epithalon FDA-approved?

No. Epithalon is not FDA-approved for any use. Protocol MD's Epithalon is compounded for you by a US-licensed 503A pharmacy, and compounded medications are not FDA-approved. A physician decides if it is right for you.

How is Epithalon prescribed through Protocol MD?

You complete a short online intake, and a US-licensed physician (MD or DO) reviews your history and goals to decide whether Epithalon is appropriate — a physician makes the call, never an algorithm. We place a hold on your card at checkout, and if they decide it isn't right for you, the hold is released and you're never charged.

Do I need insurance?

No insurance is required — Protocol MD is cash-pay and transparently priced, with no surprise fees. HSA and FSA debit cards are accepted at checkout, and every charge has an itemized receipt in your patient portal for reimbursement. Physician-prescribed medication is generally an eligible expense, but plans vary, so check with your plan administrator.

In depth

What the Research on Epithalon Shows So Far

The research on Epithalon is early. Most of it is in cells and animals, and much of it comes from one research group. No large human trial has tested it. Protocol MD sells Epithalon, so read this section knowing we have a reason to want you to buy it.

  • Cell studies — A 2003 lab study in the Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, Khavinson, Bondarev and Butyugov, looked at Epithalon and telomerase in human cells grown in a dish. Cells in a dish do not tell you what happens in a person.
  • Animal studies — A 2003 study in Biogerontology, Anisimov and colleagues, gave Epithalon to female mice and tracked them over their lives. Mouse results do not tell you what will happen in a person.
  • What is not known — No large, controlled human trial has tested Epithalon. Its long-term safety in people has not been studied. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and Epithalon is not FDA-approved for any use.

So what can be said? Epithalon is a peptide with early lab and animal research and very little human data. That is why a US-licensed physician reviews every Protocol MD request for Epithalon, and why no outcome is promised. Start the online visit to see if a physician thinks it fits you.
